Wellness on the Wild Atlantic Way
My middle years skin continues to glow after a wonderful few days at Co Kerry's Parknasilla Resort on Ireland's rugged Wild Atlantic coastline.
Such a perfect spot in so many ways - a truly glorious setting combined with fresh local produce and a list of activities guaranteed to keep everyone suitably entertained. Top of my wish list was to experience an Elemis facial at the fully comprehensive spa.
Elemis
I've long been a fan of the UK-based and scientifically grounded Elemis product range. During my many years in Hong Kong I was lucky enough to experience the brand first hand, helping to launch Elemis Day Spa in the city centre. Many years have passed and the brand continues to thrive.
The spa's cellular-boosting BIOTEC Radiance Renew facial delivered as promised. While my skin is in pretty good health (even if I say so myself!) thanks to plenty of skin-friendly foods and my recent efforts to get-the-glow , the combination of skin-nourishing ingredients with the ultrasonic peel and the BIOTEC machine's Galvanic current restoring moisture and vitality, boosted my skin even further, leaving it richly nourished, visibly brighter and more dewy.
In my many years of industry experience, I have learnt that the delivery of therapy is as important as the actual treatment and product used and the Parknasilla team are testament to this - extremely well trained with hands attuned to all skin concerns. And given the scope of the facial range and the variety of tricks the machine has up its sleeve, you're certain to find something that suits your skin.
And lest I forget, the Elemis Pro Collagen Marine Cream was on hand, one of my enduring favourites - if you haven't yet tried it - it really is a winner!
Parknasilla resort facilities
Overall the resort well surpassed my expectations on many fronts - most especially the vast range of facilities from fishing and archery to cycling, walking trails, golf and of course the spa - featuring a large bright indoor family pool which was at the ideal temperature (which is another bug bearer for me as most are either like swimming in the Artic or in a hot, headache-inducing bath), two outdoor hot tubs with panoramic views of Kerry (a must visit especially while its raining as happens when in Ireland!), a large thermal spa with a range of wet and dry, warm, hot and cool cabins.
Top Tip: Don’t be afraid to ask questions. Many people don't and end up disgruntled as they don't get the results they are looking for from their treatment.
Room for improvement: The heated therapy beds were super cosy but the treatment rooms could do with e freshen up.
Will I return: Yes absolutely - I imagine Parknasilla is glorious in winter - while colder outside, the embracing cosy fires will quickly warm the heart.
